Lawsuit Central

We have discovered that our opponent Joan VanderVeen is suing the township!  The opposition would have you believe that the current Township Committee is overly litigious, but this is patently untrue. In fact, the opposite is true. So let’s set the record straight.

The township is being sued by:

1. Candidate VanderVeen and a small group over a minor procedural matter which has already been addressed. This is not even mentioned on the campaign website.
2. A developer over the use of eminent domain to obtain vacant land to transfer to Habitat for Humanity for affordable housing.
3. A local farmer over the prohibition of growing cannabis commercially out of doors.

The township filed suit over:

1. The number of affordable housing units assigned to us – we feel the number is too high for our rural community.
2. The reclassification of West Amwell’s stormwater management to a much stricter category. More government regulation is not the answer.

That’s it – there are no other pending legal actions. We do not need continuous dysfunction and disruption in our township.
